LOL Lab at the Canadian Psychological Association 2026 Convention
The Living Organisms Learning Lab attended the Canadian Psychological Association’s 2026 conference in Montreal, QC! Lab members Charlotte Kerr, Sophia Marchetti, and Ashley Rodrigues, alongside lab alumni Aly Moscovitz and lab director Albert Malkin, presented recent LOL research to audiences of fellow students, clinicians, and researchers.
Charlotte and Albert presented a poster on the findings of Charlotte’s MA thesis— Graduate Student Perceptions of the Use of AI in Counselling Psychology.
Sophia presented a Snapshot talk— Risks, Roles, and Perspective Taking- which discussed the specific implications of perspective-taking differences between Panhellenic groups (fraternities and sororities) across campuses, a part of her MA thesis.
Finally, Aly, Ashley, and Sophia presented a Symposium, In Their Shoes: Dating Violence and Perspective Taking Skills in North American Post-Secondary Institutions, composed of their three research projects (Seeing Isn't Believing: The Critical Role of Attitudes in Understanding the Relationship Between Perspective-Taking and Dating Violence by Aly Moscovitz; Neurodevelopmental Differences and Dating Violence: The Role of Perspective-Taking by Ashley Rodrigues; Not Greek To Me: Analyzing Attitudes Toward Dating Violence and Deictic Perspective Taking Skills in Post-Secondary Greek Life Organizations by Sophia Marchetti) which explore dating violence attitudes and behaviour, and the role of perspective taking, as examined in a novel emotional deictic framing task, in the general population and more at-risk groups. Albert served as the discussant, providing context for this larger research focus within the lab, and Delaney Sgro, M.A. in Counselling Psychology, served as moderator for the panel, introducing the lab, presenters, and research project.
The members of the LOL lab were grateful to meet with so many fantastic researchers and clinicians to learn about the work being done across Canada. Great work to everyone involved! See you next year, CPA!
